Independent Mediators

Independent Mediators manages the practices of ten of Europe’s leading full-time civil and commercial mediators. Established in 2007, the organisation operates on a barrister’s chambers model, with mediators who are self-employed and independent, supported by a central service that administers all mediations. This structure provides clients with a single point of contact, instant diary availability and booking, harmonised documentation and fees, and seamless cover from other leading mediators if required, without any additional administration charges.

The mediators are recognised internationally as leaders in the field, with all members listed in Who’s Who Legal, which identifies the world’s foremost commercial mediators. Several mediators, including Bill Marsh, Michel Kallipetis KC, Jane Player, Jonathan Lloyd-Jones, and Phillip Howell-Richardson, have also been named among the Global Elite Thought Leaders in Mediation in EMEA. Independent Mediators was named Mediation Firm of the Year by Who’s Who Legal in both 2019 and 2020. Collectively, the mediators have over 200 years of experience and have conducted more than 9,500 mediations, with the organisation itself having been appointed in more than 7,500 mediations.

The mediators handle a wide range of commercial disputes, with values from tens of thousands to multi-billion pounds, involving parties from both the UK and internationally, including public and private companies, national governments, public authorities, and group actions.
