Hudgell Solicitors is recognised as one of the most progressive and ambitious law firms in the North of England and is listed among The Times Best 250 law firms in the UK. Established in 1997, the firm has expanded through strategic growth and acquisitions and now represents thousands of clients in clinical negligence, personal and criminal injury, civil liberties, and serious injury and illness abroad. Clients are represented individually as well as in large group actions.

The firm is led by executive chairman Neil Hudgell and CEO Rachel Di Clemente. Its strategic focus is centred on two operational hubs in Hull and Manchester, with the Manchester presence complementing the long-established Hull team.

Hudgell Solicitors is one of a limited number of firms holding a legal aid franchise for representing families in traumatic clinical negligence cases where a child suffers a neurological injury up to eight weeks from birth. Notable instructions include multiple claims involving Great Ormond Street Hospital, as well as a settlement of up to £23.7 million in a birth injury case against Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.

The civil liberties team regularly advises on inquiries, inquests, and high-profile cases of national media attention, including the Post Office Horizon IT Inquiry and the Manchester Arena Inquiry. A recent success included a High Court harassment claim against a conspiracy theorist.

The personal, serious, and criminal injury teams handle high-value claims arising from a wide range of circumstances, including representation of over 150 victims of the Manchester Arena terrorist attack. The travel litigation team advises on accident and illness abroad claims, including incidents at resorts, on planes, boats, and during ski trips, and has recently acted for more than 100 passengers of the P&O Ventura cruise ship following sickness outbreaks.

The Court of Protection team specialises in Mental Capacity Law, acting as professional deputy, attorney, and trustee. The firm has managed the affairs of individuals lacking capacity through the Court of Protection for over a decade.
