SRA imposed a second financial penalty after recLAW LLP failed to provide the required AML data
The recLAW LLP has been fined £1,500 by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) after the regulator found the firm continued to fail to provide AML and sanctions data requested by the SRA despite an earlier enforcement action. The latest SRA decision, dated 22 June 2026 and published on 25 June 2026, also requires the Hove-based licensed body to pay costs of £150. According to the regulator, the firm failed to submit the requested information relating to its AML and sanctions requirements after being asked to do so.
The SRA said firms must respond promptly to regulatory requests and provide complete and accurate information when required. It found that recLAW LLP breached paragraph 3.3(a) of the Code of Conduct for Firms by failing to provide the requested data.
The regulator stated that the breach continued even after the firm had been given notice and a reasonable opportunity to comply. It also noted that the firm remained in breach after it had already been directed to pay a fixed financial penalty of £750 for the same issue.
That earlier decision was made on 17 April 2026 and published on 20 April 2026. On that occasion, the SRA imposed a fixed financial penalty of £750 together with costs of £150 after finding that the firm had failed to submit the requested AML and sanctions information despite being asked to do so.
Following the earlier enforcement action, the firm still failed to provide the requested AML and sanctions information. RecLAW LLP is an SRA-regulated licensed body with its head office at Unit 7, Hove Business Centre, Fonthill Road, Hove. The firm remains authorised by the SRA to provide legal services.
The SRA publishes disciplinary and regulatory decisions as part of its enforcement process. The regulator has stated that firms are expected to comply with requests for regulatory information, including data relating to anti-money laundering and financial sanctions compliance, and may face disciplinary action where they fail to do so.
