Solicitor barred from practising without approved supervision

Andrew Milne must practise only under SRA-approved supervision

The Solicitors Regulation Authority has imposed an interim condition on the practising certificate of Andrew Milne, restricting the way he may practise as a solicitor.

Mr Milne, admitted under SRA number 134839, is subject to the condition from 18 February 2026. The decision was published on 19 February 2026.

At the time of the matters giving rise to the outcome, and at the date of publication, Mr Milne was practising at Andrew Milne & Co Solicitors, based at Tower 42, Old Broad Street, London, EC2N 1HN. The firm’s SRA ID is 382134.

The SRA determined that Mr Milne’s practising certificate for the 2025 to 2026 practising year is subject to a single condition. He may not act as a solicitor without the supervision of a solicitor approved by the SRA for that purpose.

The regulator confirmed that the terms used in the condition are defined in the SRA Glossary.

The outcome was reached by the SRA decision and not by referral to the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal.

In setting out the legal basis for the restriction, the SRA stated that the interim condition was imposed under rule 3.2 of the SRA Regulatory and Disciplinary Procedure Rules. That rule permits an authorised decision maker, at any stage and pending a final decision by the SRA or the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal, to impose interim conditions on a solicitor’s practising certificate or the registration of a registered European lawyer or registered foreign lawyer.

The regulator stated that it was satisfied that the condition was necessary in the public interest or for the protection of the public.

An interim condition does not amount to a final determination of any allegation. Instead, it regulates the way in which a solicitor may practise while regulatory processes continue.

The condition prevents Mr Milne from practising independently and requires him to work under the oversight of an SRA approved supervising solicitor. The SRA has not published further details regarding the underlying issues that led to the decision.

Control of practice conditions of this nature is designed to manage potential risk while allowing continued practice within defined safeguards.
