Andrew Cane Solomon referred to the SDT over alleged conduct towards a colleague
A solicitor has been referred to the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal (SDT) following a decision by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) to initiate disciplinary proceedings.
The SRA confirmed that on 27 August 2025, it decided to lodge proceedings before the Tribunal in relation to Andrew Cane Solomon. The decision was published on 12 February 2026.
At the time of the matters giving rise to the outcome, Mr Solomon was practising at Kingsley Napley LLP, 20 Bonhill Street, London EC2A 4DN. At the date of publication, he is recorded as being with The London Borough of Hackney – Legal Services, Town Hall, Mare Street, London E8 1EA.
The SRA stated that the matter has been referred to the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal, an independent body which will consider all the evidence and reach its own decision. The Tribunal has certified that there is a case to answer in respect of allegations.
According to the regulator, the allegations include that Mr Solomon, while in a position of seniority in respect of a colleague, acted towards that individual in a manner which was unwanted and/or sexualised and/or amounted to an abuse of his position.
The SRA emphasised that the allegations remain unproven and are subject to a hearing before the Tribunal. No findings have yet been made.
A referral to the SDT follows an SRA decision that there is sufficient basis for the matter to be determined by the Tribunal. The SDT operates independently of the SRA and has the power to impose sanctions if allegations are proved, including fines, suspension or strike-off.
The proceedings will allow Mr Solomon to respond to the allegations and present evidence in his defence. The Tribunal will determine the facts and decide whether any professional misconduct is established.
The SRA’s notification makes clear that the outcome recorded at this stage is a decision to prosecute before the SDT, rather than any determination of guilt.
A hearing date has not been included in the published notification. Criminal or disciplinary proceedings are active, and the allegations remain subject to determination by the Tribunal.
