SRA intervenes and shuts Polaris Law after suspecting solicitor Zulfiqar Rahman of dishonesty
The Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) has closed the practice of solicitor Zulfiqar Rahman and intervened into Polaris Law Solicitors Ltd, following suspicions of dishonesty and regulatory breaches.
According to the SRA’s published decision, the intervention took place on 8 October 2025, with the outcome announced on 9 October 2025. The closure affects Polaris Law Solicitors Ltd, a recognised body based at 83 Easton Street, High Wycombe, HP11 1LT. The firm, identified under SRA Firm ID 8005345, can no longer operate or act for clients.
Mr Rahman, who holds SRA ID 655054, was practising at the firm at the time of intervention. The SRA stated that its decision to intervene was based on a reason to suspect dishonesty on the part of Mr Rahman in connection with his practice as a solicitor.
The regulator also noted that Mr Rahman had failed to comply with rules made under sections 31 and 32 of the Solicitors Act 1974. These breaches fall under paragraph 1(1)(a)(i) and paragraph 1(1)(c) of Schedule 1 to the Solicitors Act 1974, which provide the SRA with authority to take immediate control of a solicitor’s practice in the public interest.

The intervention means that all client matters, papers, and money previously held by the firm are now under the control of an appointed agent. The SRA confirmed that Chris Evans of Lester Solicitors LLP, located at Russell House, Oxford Road, Bournemouth, BH8 8EX, has been designated as the intervening agent. He is responsible for managing client files, protecting client interests, and facilitating the return of documents or funds.
Under an SRA intervention, the solicitor or firm involved loses all rights to continue practising, representing clients, or handling client money. The action is considered one of the SRA’s most serious regulatory powers and is reserved for cases involving serious risk to clients or potential breaches of integrity and professional conduct.
The SRA’s published notice does not provide further detail about the underlying conduct or specific transactions that led to the suspicion of dishonesty. It confirms only that the regulator acted under its statutory authority in response to evidence sufficient to warrant immediate intervention.
Polaris Law Solicitors Ltd has therefore been formally closed and is no longer authorised to offer legal services in England and Wales. Clients previously represented by the firm are advised to contact the appointed intervening agent for assistance in retrieving papers or arranging continued representation elsewhere.
The SRA’s intervention process ensures the protection of client interests during ongoing investigations. Although an intervention does not in itself amount to a finding of misconduct, it allows the regulator to preserve evidence and prevent further risk to clients or the public while investigations continue.
At the time of publication, no additional statement has been released by the SRA or by Mr Rahman. The regulator’s decision remains in effect from 8 October 2025, the official date of closure.
This outcome follows standard regulatory procedure for interventions and highlights the SRA’s ongoing commitment to maintaining public trust and upholding professional standards within the legal sector.
