SRA steps in and closes Dallow & Dallow over client protection concerns

Regulator intervenes in Wolverhampton firm to protect clients and former clients.

The Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) has intervened in the practice of Dallow & Dallow, a recognised sole practitioner firm based in Wolverhampton, resulting in the firm’s closure.

According to a decision published by the regulator on 3 June 2026, the intervention took effect on 1 June 2026. The firm operated from 23 Waterloo Road, Wolverhampton, WV1 4TJ and was registered under SRA number 8003539.

The SRA stated that the outcome of the matter was an intervention and confirmed that the decision was reached by the regulator. No further details were provided in relation to the firm’s circumstances.

In its published decision notice, the SRA said it was necessary to intervene in order to protect the interests of clients or former clients of Miss Hilton. The regulator cited paragraph 1(1)(m) of Schedule 1 to the Solicitors Act 1974, as amended, as the legal basis for its action.

An intervention is one of the strongest regulatory powers available to the SRA. When an intervention takes place, the regulator takes control of client files and other relevant materials to safeguard the interests of clients and former clients.

The published notice does not provide additional information regarding the events that led to the intervention. The regulator’s decision focuses on the need to protect clients and former clients and confirms that this was the basis upon which the action was taken.

The SRA has appointed Claire Burrows of Shakespeare Martineau LLP as the intervening agent. The appointment was made through SHMA SRA Interventions, based in Birmingham.

Individuals seeking information relating to the intervention have been directed to contact the appointed intervening agent. Enquiries can be made via the dedicated telephone and email contact details provided in the regulator’s notice.

The intervention became effective on 1 June 2026, while publication of the decision followed two days later on 3 June 2026.

The SRA is the independent regulatory body responsible for overseeing solicitors and law firms in England and Wales. Its powers include taking regulatory action where it considers intervention necessary under the provisions of the Solicitors Act 1974.

The published decision concerning Dallow & Dallow remains available through the SRA’s public solicitor records database. No further information has been released by the regulator at the time of publication.
