SRA refers two solicitors to SDT in ongoing Post Office investigation

SRA says two solicitors will face the SDT as wider Post Office investigations continue

The Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) has referred two solicitors to the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal (SDT) as part of its continuing investigation into issues linked to the Post Office scandal.

In a statement published on 25 June 2026, the regulator confirmed that Jane Elizabeth Macleod and Nicholas Simon Barry Gould have been referred to the SDT over alleged conduct that took place after the main events of the Post Office Horizon scandal.

The SRA explained that it refers cases to the SDT when the alleged misconduct is considered too serious to be dealt with using its own internal disciplinary powers. The tribunal will determine when the cases will be heard. The regulator did not provide further details about the allegations against either individual.

The referrals form part of the SRA’s wider investigations connected to the Post Office Horizon scandal. The regulator confirmed that its wider investigations remain ongoing and extend beyond these two cases.

According to the SRA, it continues to investigate issues relating to the Horizon IT scandal while working closely with the Post Office Horizon IT Inquiry and the Metropolitan Police. The regulator said it will take regulatory action where it finds that solicitors it oversees have failed to meet the professional standards expected of them.

The SRA also pointed readers to several previous updates on its work concerning the Post Office, including statements published in March 2026, February 2025, June 2024, January 2024, and October 2022. These updates outline the regulator’s continuing response as investigations into matters connected with the Horizon scandal have progressed.

The referrals come as investigations linked to the wider Post Office Horizon scandal continue across multiple organisations. The SRA’s latest announcement focuses specifically on regulatory action involving solicitors whose alleged conduct occurred after the principal events of the scandal.

The regulator emphasised that its investigations are still active and that further action may follow if evidence shows that regulated solicitors failed to comply with the standards required of the profession. The outcome of the two disciplinary cases will now be determined through proceedings before the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal once hearing dates have been set.
