The deal is the East Midlands firm’s tenth acquisition in a decade and adds offices in Bourne and Market Deeping
East Midlands law firm Chattertons Solicitors & Wealth Management has expanded its regional presence through the acquisition of Double & Megson Solicitors, strengthening its position in Lincolnshire and the surrounding area.
The acquisition will take effect on 1 July 2026 and will add Double & Megson’s offices in Market Deeping and Bourne to Chattertons’ regional network. The deal is Chattertons’ tenth acquisition in a decade and follows previous transactions including Page Nelson and JGQC in Lincoln. The firm said the acquisition would further strengthen its legal, wealth management and tax advisory offering across the region.
Double & Megson’s offices at 11 Market Place, Market Deeping, and 4 West Street, Bourne, will continue to operate as usual under the Chattertons brand. Clients will continue to be advised by the same teams while gaining access to a broader range of services.
Double & Megson was founded in 1978 and has served individuals, families and businesses in the local community for nearly five decades. Chattertons said the firm’s client-focused approach and strong community ties aligned closely with its own values.
As part of the transaction, current owners Richard Wood and Shanta Shah will join Chattertons as consultants to support continuity for clients and staff.
Wood and Shah said: “Joining Chattertons allows us to build on our legacy while giving clients access to a wider range of expertise. The firm’s scale, resources and integrated approach create new opportunities for our team and additional services for the clients we serve.”
Richard Ludlow, chief executive of Chattertons, said: “We are delighted to welcome Richard Wood, Shanta Shah and the wider Double & Megson team to Chattertons. Their longstanding local relationships and commitment to client care align perfectly with our values. Having offices in Bourne and Market Deeping was a natural geographical fit for us, taking account of our existing office locations. It further strengthens our regional presence and supports our ambition to be a leading provider of integrated legal, wealth management and tax services across the East Midlands.”
Chattertons said clients would gain access to additional services including family law, conveyancing, private client work, commercial law, dispute resolution, financial planning, wealth management and tax advice.
The firm employs more than 230 legal and financial professionals across 10 offices and has pursued an acquisition-led growth strategy for a number of years.
