Thousands of lawyers set for London streets in major justice fundraiser

Annual legal sector fundraiser backs charities supporting vulnerable people across the UK

The London Legal Walk 2026 will return on 17 June 2026, bringing together thousands of legal professionals to raise funds for free legal advice charities supporting vulnerable communities across the UK. Organisers say the annual event, first launched in 2005, continues to play a major role in funding frontline legal advice services dealing with housing, debt, asylum, domestic violence, and welfare benefit cases.

This year’s walk will again feature multiple 10-kilometre routes through central London, alongside shorter accessible options designed to allow wider participation. Walkers can join individually or as part of a team. Registration will take place on Carey Street between 3 pm and 7 pm to reduce congestion along the routes.

Participants will be able to choose between the returning Parks, River Route South, and River Route East walks, while route maps will also be available digitally through QR codes on the day. The event concludes with a street party on Carey Street featuring food vendors, live entertainment, musicians, and complimentary drinks provided through partner venues, including The Last Judgment and the Law Society bars.

Organisers said the fundraiser comes at a time when legal advice charities are facing increasing demand as the cost-of-living crisis continues to affect vulnerable households. The campaign highlights growing pressure on organisations providing free legal assistance, particularly in areas involving homelessness, financial hardship and immigration support.

Funds raised through the London Legal Walk help support more than 100 legal advice charities each year. The event has become one of the largest fundraising initiatives within the legal calendar, attracting participation from solicitors, barristers, judges, chambers, law firms, in-house legal teams, and legal sector organisations.

Organisers said the aim is to strengthen access to justice at a time when many advice services are struggling to meet demand. They added that free legal advice remains a critical safeguard for individuals facing complex legal problems who may otherwise be unable to secure representation or guidance.

Registration for the 2026 event is currently open, with the deadline for sign-ups set for midnight on Friday, 29 May 2026. The organisers are encouraging early registration to help manage attendance and logistics ahead of the walk.

Since its launch more than two decades ago, the London Legal Walk has raised millions of pounds for legal support services and has become one of the legal profession’s most visible public fundraising events. The 2026 event is expected to attract thousands of participants from across the legal community once again.
