Norton Rose Fulbright promotes 51 new partners, with North America leading the charge and a 51% female representation

Norton Rose Fulbright (NRF) has announced its 2026 class of 51 newly appointed partners, a slightly smaller group compared to last year’s 56, but still a significant step up from the 49 promotions in 2024. Notably, the proportion of women promoted has risen to 51%, with 26 of the 51 new partners being women. This marks a positive shift from the previous year’s cohort, where only 35% were female, ending a five-year streak of women representing more than 40% of promotions.

The promotions reflect the firm’s continued global expansion and commitment to growth under the leadership of co-global managing partners Peter Scott and Jeff Cody, who assumed their roles in 2024. The pair have guided the firm through a leadership transition following the departure of former global CEO Gerry Pecht.

Peter Scott noted that growing the partnership remains a priority for NRF, highlighting that the newly promoted partners “have demonstrated exceptional client focus, technical excellence and a genuine commitment to collaboration across our global platform.” These promotions come after a strong financial year for NRF, with global revenues reaching $2.4 billion in 2024 and profits per equity partner climbing to $1.6 million, according to Law.com data.

Geographically, North America continues to be a dominant force within the firm, with 30 of the 51 new partners hailing from the region. Eighteen of these promotions occurred in the US, while 12 were in Canada. In London, ten lawyers were promoted, maintaining a steady pace from the previous year’s 11, marking the second-highest number of promotions for the city since the COVID-19 pandemic. Among the London promotions were Georgie Field, Jonathan Crookes, Matthew Bambury, and Olivia Cullen in banking and finance.

Across the globe, there were also six promotions in Australia, two in Europe (Munich and Paris), and two in South Africa. In South Africa, however, NRF is set to sever ties with its 120-lawyer practice next year, effectively ending its on-the-ground presence in the country. The final promotion in this class went to Shazi Askarpour in Dubai, in the M&A practice.

The class of 2026 spans 12 practice areas, including 14 promotions in litigation and disputes, 13 in corporate, M&A and securities, and eight in banking and finance. There were also four promotions in intellectual property, and the remaining promotions were spread across various other practice areas, including cybersecurity and data privacy, employment and labour, healthcare transactions, and risk advisory.

This diverse range of promotions highlights NRF’s broad expertise across multiple sectors.
