Wake Smith expands legal force with trio of new solicitors in Sheffield offices

Wake Smith Solicitors adds three new professionals to bolster private client, property and family teams

Sheffield-based law firm Wake Smith Solicitors has strengthened its professional ranks with the appointment of three new fee earners, reinforcing its specialist departments serving both private and commercial clients across South Yorkshire.

The firm confirmed the arrival of Gareth Williams, Christie Smith, and Martha Green, each joining distinct departments within Wake Smith’s established practice areas. The appointments reflect the firm’s continued growth and investment in specialist legal expertise to meet rising client demand.

Gareth Williams joins the firm as a Senior Associate Solicitor in the Private Client department. He brings substantial experience across wills, probate, estate planning, and Court of Protection matters. Prior to joining Wake Smith, he worked for a Bradford-based law firm advising clients on complex personal legal affairs. Williams said he looks forward to working closer to home in Sheffield while continuing to provide tailored advice in matters involving estates and family wealth management.

Christie Smith, a recently qualified solicitor, joins the Commercial Property department. She brings a strong background in real estate, having worked for five years as a paralegal in a Sheffield law firm’s Real Estate Team before qualifying as a solicitor. During that time, she managed large-scale property projects and coordinated transactions in the data centre sector. Her arrival enhances the firm’s capacity to handle complex property and infrastructure matters for commercial clients.

Martha Green joins as a Legal Assistant in the Family team. This is her first professional role in the legal sector following a number of work placements and experience in both legal and non-legal settings. The firm said she brings strong administrative and client care skills, strengthening the department’s ability to support families with sensitive and often highly personal legal issues.

Wake Smith’s chairman, Neil Salter, welcomed the trio, describing them as “fantastic additions” to the firm’s already busy departments. He added: “The enthusiasm and knowledge they bring to the team will enhance the support and guidance we can offer to our clients.”

The appointments come as Wake Smith continues to expand its regional presence and consolidate its position as one of Sheffield’s longest-established full-service law firms.

Employing more than 35 fee earners, the firm delivers a broad range of legal services for both businesses and individuals, covering areas including employment, litigation, real estate, private client, family, and corporate law.

Wake Smith has also earned a series of professional accreditations and awards recognising its quality and management standards. These include the Lexcel Law Society national accreditation, awarded for more than a decade in recognition of highly efficient working practices and excellent client service. The firm also holds the Law Society’s Conveyancing Quality Scheme accreditation and the internationally recognised Investors in People standard, which highlights best practice in employee development and leadership.

Founded in Sheffield, Wake Smith Solicitors has maintained a strong reputation for professionalism, client care, and legal excellence across Yorkshire and beyond. The latest appointments, the firm said, demonstrate its ongoing commitment to investing in skilled professionals and maintaining high service standards across every department.
