Solicitor James Martin Taylor struck off after the tribunal approved the agreed outcome
A solicitor has been struck off the roll following a Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal (SDT) hearing that approved an agreed outcome arising from a prosecution brought by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA).
The SRA confirmed that James Martin Taylor, formerly of Collingwood Immigration Services LLP, was removed from the roll of solicitors after the Tribunal’s decision on 9 October 2025. The outcome was published on 17 October 2025.
According to the regulator’s public notice, the case related to a prosecution before the SDT in which the Tribunal had previously certified that there was a case to answer. After reviewing the evidence and submissions from both parties, the SDT considered and approved an agreed outcome that resulted in Mr Taylor being struck off.

The SRA stated that the SDT is an independent body responsible for determining cases of alleged professional misconduct. It makes decisions based on all available evidence, including material provided by both the regulator and the solicitor concerned.
Mr Taylor was admitted as a solicitor under registration number 380224 and was practising at Collingwood Immigration Services LLP at the time of the matters giving rise to the outcome. The firm, based at Aiden House, Tynegate Precinct, Gateshead, operates under firm ID 647504.
The SRA’s published summary did not disclose the specific findings that led to the sanction but confirmed that the Tribunal had found sufficient cause to approve the agreed outcome between the regulator and the respondent.
Being struck off the roll represents the most severe sanction available to the SDT. It permanently removes a solicitor’s right to practise in England and Wales unless an application for restoration is approved at a later date — an outcome rarely granted and typically only after many years and under exceptional circumstances.
The decision marks the conclusion of regulatory proceedings that began with the SRA’s initial prosecution notice, in which the regulator set out its case and evidence against Mr Taylor. Once the SDT certified a case to answer, the matter proceeded to a hearing before the independent panel, leading to the agreed resolution announced in October 2025.
Collingwood Immigration Services LLP has not been accused of wrongdoing in relation to the case. The SRA’s public record indicates that the prosecution and subsequent disciplinary order were directed at Mr Taylor personally.
As standard practice, the SRA publishes the outcomes of disciplinary proceedings to maintain public confidence in the legal profession and ensure transparency in its regulatory actions. The publication confirms the date of the hearing, the sanction imposed, and the firm involved, but omits personal details beyond those necessary for public record.
The removal of a solicitor from the roll typically follows serious breaches of the SRA Principles, Accounts Rules, or professional standards expected of practitioners. While no further details were provided in this case, such sanctions generally relate to findings of dishonesty, misuse of client funds, or conduct that undermines the integrity of the profession.
The SRA has not released any additional comment on the case. Mr Taylor remains disqualified from practising as a solicitor in England and Wales unless an application for restoration is made and granted by the Tribunal in the future.
The Tribunal’s decision reinforces the SRA’s commitment to upholding ethical and financial integrity within the legal sector. It follows a series of disciplinary actions taken in 2025 as the regulator continues to prioritise consumer protection and accountability across the profession.
