McCann FitzGerald LLP
McCann FitzGerald LLP’s London office advises Irish, UK, and international clients on Irish law, with a focus on investment funds, banking and financial services, debt capital markets, and loan sale transactions. Established in 1986 as the first major Irish law firm to open a London office, it remains one of the largest London presences of any Irish firm. The office employs innovative technology to enhance the delivery of legal services in both transactions and disputes, including a projects services group that manages high-volume document review and reporting.
The London office is led by Hugh Beattie, who specialises in investment funds, structured finance, secured lending, bank and financial services regulation, debt capital markets, securitisation, and corporate treasury. The firm’s banking and financial services group advises on a full range of financing activities, including complex regulatory issues, enforcement of guarantees and security, negotiation disputes, employment disputes, restructuring and insolvency, breach of confidence and defamation claims, and discovery orders and requests from public inquiries.
The corporate team handles domestic and cross-border transactions such as mergers and acquisitions, equity offerings, restructurings, corporate reorganisations, demergers, schemes of arrangement, capital reductions, share buy-backs, joint ventures, strategic alliances, outsourcing arrangements, and corporate governance matters. The dispute resolution group represents a broad spectrum of corporate and financial sector clients, developing strategies that balance legal, commercial, and reputational considerations, and employs significant legal and technological resources to expedite complex commercial disputes.
The real estate group covers commercial property and construction matters, advising on acquisitions, lettings, restructuring, security, enforcement, and tax-based transactions. The construction team has experience with major public and private sector projects, including technically complex engineering and project finance schemes. Lawyers across the firm are organised around key industry sectors to provide tailored advice based on industry-specific expertise.
Other offices: Dublin (head office), New York, Brussels.
