FRP Advisory
FRP’s forensic services team comprises highly experienced professionals in forensic accounting, forensic technology, and investigations, providing expert support across a wide range of matters, including commercial disputes, global asset tracing and recovery, bribery and fraud investigations, judgment enforcement, competition damages claims, regulatory enquiries, freezing orders, divorce, and contentious insolvency cases. Partner-led teams deliver constructive, cost-effective resolutions, integrating accounting and technology capabilities to work seamlessly across assignments.
The team has extensive experience in dispute resolution, including litigation, arbitration, mediation, and expert determination. FRP partners have acted as party-appointed experts, single joint experts, expert determiners, shadow experts, and advisers, and have given evidence in the High Court and international arbitration. Expert appointments have included contentious valuations, account reconstruction, and lost profit calculations in shareholder disputes, unfair prejudice claims, contractual disputes, security for costs, and Insolvency Act claims. The team operates across multiple industries and handles disputes relating to lost profits, breach of contract, wasted costs, professional negligence, business interruption, business expropriation, matrimonial matters, and fraudulent misrepresentation. When specialized technical expertise is required, the team collaborates with external experts, such as competition economists or financial services specialists, and draws on FRP’s corporate finance team or the Eight International network for country-specific expertise. Recent experience includes acting as quantum expert for a listed Asian corporate defending a loss of profits claim, with partner Chris Osborne cross-examined in an LCIA tribunal following submission of expert reports and a joint statement of experts.
FRP’s forensic investigations practice works with law firms, audit committees, and regulatory and enforcement agencies, including the SEC, DOJ, SFO, and FCA, to assess fraud, bribery, corruption, and money laundering and explain complex matters. The team regularly leads investigations into accounting fraud, insider dealing, misappropriation of client funds, employee fraud, boiler room and invoicing fraud, bribery, corruption, and money laundering. It is also engaged in asset-tracing and recovery assignments across fraud, high-value divorce, and insolvency matters, often in collaboration with FRP’s contentious insolvency team. Recent cases include an investigation into allegations of bribery, corruption, money laundering, and fraud involving a high-net-worth individual and politically exposed persons in the Middle East, and a financial irregularity investigation at a major charity, which identified three methods of fund misappropriation and contributed to a criminal conviction.
The forensic technology team specialises in computer forensics and eDiscovery, capturing, processing, analysing, and producing digital and digitised evidence suitable for court or tribunal proceedings, insolvency matters, regulatory enquiries, litigation, arbitration, and financial misconduct investigations. The team advises clients on best practices for electronic information management, develops eDiscovery project plans, and negotiates approaches and procedures to ensure compliance and efficiency.
The firm also provides compliance and risk advisory services, drafting and reviewing policies for financial controls, anti-bribery, anti-money laundering, and compliance programmes. The team works with regulatory authorities and in-house compliance teams of corporates and banks to address risk-related matters, review systems and controls as part of investigations, and provide guidance on safeguarding assets and ensuring high-quality financial reporting. Recent work includes advising charity trustees on controls to manage risk, protect assets, and enhance financial reporting standards.
