CEDR is a not-for-profit body, founded in 1990, dedicated to improving dispute resolution and conflict management. It is recognised as Europe’s largest independent provider of Alternative Dispute Resolution, having assisted more than 450,000 parties in commercial and consumer disputes.

The organisation is internationally regarded for its negotiation and conflict management training, including its Mediator Skills Training programme, through which over 10,000 individuals have been trained and more than 7,000 mediators accredited. In addition, CEDR provides global consultancy on Civil Justice reform and supports businesses in developing conflict management systems.

CEDR undertakes a wide range of work. Its commercial dispute services address cases from small claims to multi-billion-pound matters, with mediation delivered by a panel of over 100 CEDR-trained mediators offering bespoke and fixed-fee options across various industries. In consumer disputes, CEDR provides resolution services for more than 30 companies, trade bodies, and public sector organisations. Its training programmes include Mediator Skills training leading to CEDR Accreditation, as well as negotiation and conflict management courses, supported by nearly three decades of expertise in skills-based training and coaching.

As a not-for-profit body, CEDR also carries out foundation activities focused on innovative research into conflict and its resolution. This includes the biennial UK Mediation Audit, the only study of its kind worldwide, and the publication of guides such as those on establishing and running Public Inquiries.
