Excello Law announces record growth, global expansion and rising partner diversity

Excello Law has announced record financial results for the year ending 31 May 2025, reporting turnover of £30.5 million a 26.6 percent increase on the previous twelve months and a 170 percent rise since 2022.

The firm, one of the UK’s leading new model law firms, said the results mark another year of strong growth and expansion both in the UK and internationally. Excello now employs 270 lawyers worldwide, more than double its 2020 headcount.

Of the firm’s 216 partners, 105 are women, representing 49 percent of the total and reflecting Excello’s long-standing commitment to equality and inclusion at senior levels.

This year also marked Excello’s first international expansion, with new offices opened in California and Dubai, alongside a new office in Belfast. The firm, founded in 2009 by George Bisnought, was one of the first fee-share law firms established in the UK and remains independent, operating without private equity funding.

Net profit for 2025 was £731,000, consolidating Excello’s position as one of the UK’s most successful dispersed law firms. The firm said its structure offers multiple entry routes for lawyers, including fee-share partnerships, team transitions and the creation of independently branded firms within its House of Brands model.

This flexible approach allows lawyers to design their own professional paths, supported by Excello’s established infrastructure, technology and office network.

Among the firm’s most recent developments is the launch of Three Points Law, a technology-driven practice specialising in sports, technology and intellectual property law. The new firm was created in partnership with former Mishcon de Reya lawyers Simon Leaf and Tom Murray.

Excello’s House of Brands now includes 14 firms, eight of which were founded in 2025. The network is designed to foster entrepreneurial collaboration while maintaining shared operational and compliance support.

Founder and Chief Executive George Bisnought attributed the firm’s success to its culture of independence and support. “Our continued success and long-term sustainable growth are down to the exceptional calibre of our lawyers and the strength of our model,” he said. “At Excello, individuality is our greatest asset. We provide an environment where lawyers are free to lead their practice, supported by world-class infrastructure designed around their goals.”

He added: “We recruit only highly experienced lawyers who value autonomy, excellence and entrepreneurship. Our success shows that when you truly listen to people, support their ambitions and remove the barriers of traditional law, excellence follows naturally.”

Excello’s “Excello 360” support framework gives every lawyer access to a full law firm infrastructure. This includes a team of more than 40 professionals across compliance, finance, IT and marketing. The firm also provides business development and transition support, ensuring lawyers can focus on client service from their first day with the firm.

Collaboration is a key element of Excello’s business model. The firm reported that 42 percent of new client matters are generated through internal referrals, facilitated by its Director of Community, who works to strengthen cross-practice relationships and encourage joint client work.

The firm said its combination of autonomy, support and collaboration continues to attract experienced lawyers seeking flexibility and entrepreneurial freedom within a structured environment.

With further expansion planned, Excello’s leadership said the focus will remain on sustainable growth and continued investment in people, technology and international reach.
