SRA intervenes into former Wolverhampton solicitor practice

Intervention ordered to protect the interests of former clients of solicitor Sarah Hilton

The Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) has intervened into the remnants of a former Wolverhampton legal practice, citing the need to protect client interests. The intervention concerns solicitor Sarah Hilton and the remaining elements of her practice at Dallow & Dallow, formerly based at 23 Waterloo Road, Wolverhampton.

According to a decision published by the SRA on 3 June 2026, the intervention took effect on 1 June 2026 following regulatory action by the authority. The SRA said it had decided to intervene into both the remnants of Miss Hilton’s practice and the remnants of the practice operating under the name Dallow & Dallow.

The regulator stated that the action was necessary to protect the interests of clients and former clients, relying on powers contained in paragraph 1(1)(m) of Schedule 1 to the Solicitors Act 1974. An intervention is one of the most significant regulatory powers available to the SRA. When an intervention takes place, the regulator takes possession of client files and other materials relating to the practice in order to safeguard client interests and ensure the orderly management of outstanding matters.

The SRA has appointed Claire Burrows of Shakespeare Martineau LLP as the intervening agent responsible for handling the intervention process. Burrows will oversee matters relating to the former practice through the firm’s specialist SRA intervention service.

The regulator’s published decision does not include detailed findings regarding the circumstances that led to the intervention. However, the stated basis for the action was the protection of clients or former clients associated with the practice.

Interventions are typically used where the SRA considers immediate action necessary to protect the public, client interests or confidence in legal services. The latest action means any remaining files, documents or client-related matters connected to the former practice will now be managed through the intervention process overseen by the appointed agent. The SRA has not announced any separate disciplinary findings against Hilton in the published intervention notice.
