Crown Advocate Level 2

The Crown Prosecution Service is recruiting qualified lawyers across England and Wales. If you have criminal advocacy experience and want to advance your skills within a supportive Civil Service organisation, this is an opportunity for you.

About the Crown Prosecution Service

At the Crown Prosecution Service, we are responsible for delivering justice through the independent and effective prosecution of crime. As the principal prosecuting authority across England and Wales, the nature and diversity of cases we advise on and prosecute means our work is often emotionally challenging and complex. As such we employ over 7,000 individuals who think objectively, act professionally, show the utmost respect for others and continually strive for excellence.

About the role

As a crown advocate level 2 you’re at the forefront of our work, prosecuting on non-jury work, handling complex cases in the magistrates’ court, and conducting trial advocacy in the Crown Court. You provide verbal and written advocacy in prosecutions ranging in cases such as theft, assault, and non-fatal road traffic offences. You also advise on youth court cases and can appear as a led junior depending on your level of experience. Your advocacy plays a key role in our ability to deliver justice for victims of crime.

We are also recruiting crown advocates level 3 and senior crown advocates.

About you

We’re looking for qualified barristers and solicitors with a valid practising certificate for England and Wales. You must have completed a Legal Practice Course or Bar Vocational Course, and have the relevant pupillage or period of recognised training. Recent experience of criminal advocacy in the Crown Court is essential.
